The Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has annulled the preliminary exam for Revenue Inspector (RI) and Amin due to claims of misconduct.
A new preliminary exam will be held in a just and unbiased way, ensuring clarity and selection based on merit.
This action follows candidates’ appeal to the Orissa High Court, which claimed that the OSSSC’s move to allow all candidates to progress to the main exam breached Section 10 of the government recruitment notification. The court was informed that the OSSSC would invalidate the prior exam and conduct a new prelims exam.
The OSSSC received over 500,000 applications for the 2,895 available positions, and approximately 293,000 candidates sat for the exam. The preliminary exam occurred between September 20 and October 8, 2024, and was plagued by suspicions of irregularities. Initially, the OSSSC passed all candidates who took the prelims, permitting them to move on to the main exam. However, this decision was contested in court by certain candidates.
The cancellation of the exam has caused disappointment for countless candidates, particularly since they had begun rigorous preparations for the exam scheduled from August 1 to September 7, 2025. The OSSSC had also uploaded admit cards on its website before the exam was annulled.
The OSSSC is expected to announce the exam timetable and additional details on its official website, www.osssc.gov.in. The commission has committed to conducting the new exam in a fair and transparent manner.
